Fundamentals of Project Management with Extensive Applications.
In its fourth edition, Project Management: Achieving Competitive Advantage takes a contemporary, decisive and business-oriented approach to teaching and learning about project management. Combining current theory, contemporary case studies, and hands-on practice and research, Project Management provides students with a full range of perspectives on the project management process.
To promote a holistic and multisectoral understanding of the text, the author approaches project management theory in the context of a variety of successful organizations, whether public, private or not-for-profit. Comprehensive case analysis and detailed exercises give students the tools to assess projects in real time, equipping them with sharp decision-making skills. Leveraging the latest project management technologies, Project Management offers the right balance of real-life examples, cutting-edge theory and hands-on exercises.
I was pleased to find the book, but as I read the description, I thought the term "good condition" would be worth the $ 133.00 cost, as there was very little damage. I only had 3 lessons and opened the book about the same number of times. The cover is deformed and shows creases in the photo. The corners are worn as expected, but one corner is badly damaged, very soft and torn. The cover peeled off right after opening and tore off the inside pages. I managed to deal with it, even less worried that it won't last the semester. Shocked by the condition considering the purchase prices, and the price of books in better condition less than a month later is about half the cost. Pros: The interior is fine and intact, crisp and clean with no lettering.
This was a mandatory textbook for my project management course. Overall, the content is good and covers all the essentials of the PM with numerous case studies and practice questions for the PMP exam. GLOBAL EDITION: Except for the page numbers, the content corresponds to the much more expensive US edition. The cover has a weird smell that doesn't go away even after 8 weeks of reading, so minus one star.
The book itself is fine, ordered for a lesson and it was as expected. My problem is that this was advertised as new but the book was in poor condition when it was received. The corners of the book were badly damaged. While this does not affect the usability of the book, it makes it more difficult to resell the book once the lesson is finished as it has more damage than normal wear and tear.
This is a really great textbook with a fair amount of information on all aspects of project management. It uses many case studies and references the PMBOK throughout. The book covers all topics of the PM from conceptualization to completion.
It is the main textbook for the course I am taking, which is part of a certification program of one of the largest colleges in Eastern Ontario. This also gives me a lot of credibility.
However, this book costs a lot of money. There are a ton of great books out there that probably cover the same information just as well for at least half the price.
