Business Analysis for Practitioners: A Practice Guide provides practical resources for resolving project issues associated with requirements and business analysis, and addresses a critical need in the industry for more guidance in this area. The practical guide begins by describing business analysis work. It identifies the tasks that are performed, in addition to the essential knowledge and skills needed to effectively perform business analysis on programs and projects.
The Project Management Institute provides services including standards development, research, education, publication, networking opportunities in local chapters, organization of training conferences and seminars, and accreditation in project management.
For the record, I passed the PMI-PBA. This is just a more restricted version of PMBOK, which you should study first. This is a really useful book and many of the questions were actually from this book! I also recommend studying the PMBOK book and using the watermark's PMI-PBA certification study guide. I recommend taking a highlighter and reviewing all the important terms (usually in bold) and any rules that apply to them.
Best book written on the subject I found. Use it to prepare for certification, although it does provide a much deeper background than the specific certification materials I obtained. I find myself nodding my head much more than I roll my eyes ;)
I am taking my PMI BA exam in mid-August 2017 and have been studying this book and my PMBOK. This book is a great resource for business analysis that will take place throughout the project lifecycle.
Great fundamental book, easy explanations and real-world examples. You could certainly move forward in your bachelor's career with this book as a starting point.
I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about the Business Analyst role, as this book speaks in great detail and explains the tools, techniques, and more.
Pricing is reasonable for a textbook. I use the PMI Business Analysis Guide and PMBOK to get additional information when preparing my talks.
